[deutsche Version]
Cornelius was
borne at the 5th of December 1955 in Hannover / Germany. In the age of 14
he already got private drawing and painting exercises. After
finishing his study of comunicationdesign with a diploma in 1980, he studied
art at the same institute. In 1982/83 he was a member in a free studying
group working together with the "free international university" in the
studio of Josef Beuys at the academy in Dusseldorf. After being confused
by the meaning of the term of "art" he defined it in a sentence. This in
1983 created sentence was published in different places:
"Art are these stories, which men tells in a self invented language."
After having different exhibitions in the ´80s he
went his public part of working to illustrations and design and
was asked to work as a lecturer for act-drawing in 1983, which
he did for 20 years. He was not longer interested in taking his free,
affirmative work to exhibitions, because he saw a difference between his
work and the requirements of the art-market. But in addition of his public
work he created, for his own pleasure, in following time
different open circles of creation and now, when becoming 50, he is
prepared to publish a part of the cycle "mark up" at these place.
"Mark up" signs a creating process in which
founded situations, things and emotions get a new valuation through structures and marking up. So it get´s new, expressive meanings of happenings and meetings. Like in cosmetics (make up) Cornelius gets new kinds of sight by overlaying and setting accentuation but all these not just to currying favor. For the alert eye the pictures will become new emotionally impressions what is much more difficult in times of quick sights and flashing lights. You should try to open your mind and get calmness to feel the meaning of the pictures. The exponates are not only drams, they can be poetically sketches, they don´t give every time answers also they can be questions thrown down to the alert eye. All the exponates do have a importance, to whom — that's what you have to find out. So, have fun.
